Marsha Newbery

Producer/Director

Marsha started her television career as a National Intern for the Canadian Film and Television Producers Association in 2001. Since then she has been a recipient of the British Columbia Film Producer Internship in 2002, a B.C. Film Banff Television Festival Internship in 2003, and CTV Banff Television Festival Fellowship Award in 2005. 

Marsha spent three years as an Associate Producer and Business Affairs Manager with the awarding winning company Avanti Pictures in Vancouver.  During this time she worked on many documentary productions including the Gemini Award winning documentary "Suzuki Speaks" (2004) and was the line producer on "The Life and Times of Umberto Menghi."

In March 2004 Marsha began her career with Mars Entertainment and is now producing and writing the one hour documentary "The Rock and Roll Kid"  with Force Four Entertainment for CBC's series The Lens. Marsha has also joined Force Four Entertainment in producing the television movie "Soul Custody" now in development with CTV, and is working with Omni Films to develop a limited documentary series "Under Pressure".   In 2005 Marsha also worked as a field producer/director for the Discovery Channel/History Television documentary series "When Disaster Strikes" produced by Parallax Films.

Marsha is an active member of the documentary community and has served on the board of the BC Chapter of The Documentary Organization of Canada,   and as a member of the Steering Committee for DocTalk 2005, an international documentary forum held annually in Vancouver.
