“TAILOR MADE” DOCUMENTARY TO PREMIERE AT WHISTLER FILM FESTIVAL
VANCOUVER, BC: FOR
IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Realize Entertainment (formerly Mars Entertainment) is delighted to announce that their one
hour documentary “Tailor
Made: Chinatown’s Last Tailors” will make its world premiere at the 7th Annual Whistler Film
Festival.
Commissioned for the CBC Newsworld strand, The Lens, the film follows 80-something brothers
Bill & Jack
Wong for one year as they face the reality that they’re getting too old to run the little
tailor shop their father opened in 1913…and letting go isn’t easy. With tailoring
being a dying trade, finding someone to take over the family business has proved
impossible, but Bill refuses to give up. From taking on a fashion journalist as an apprentice,
to selling the shop to a young hot-shot corporate tailor, Bill becomes especially determined and
pulls out all the stops.
Director Len Lee says “The story of Modernize Tailors has always
meant something to me, but I was really touched by Bill and his personal journey in the
film.” Producer
and co-director Marsha Newbery adds “This isn’t just a story about a tailor shop. Bill’s
story is a reminder to us all to live life to the fullest and to do what you love
doing every day”.
CBC Newsworld’s Andrew Johnson believes Tailor Made will have universal
appeal. “The
themes in this beautiful film are those everyone can identify with and it will
touch audiences everywhere, including those who have never stepped through the gates of Vancouver’s
Chinatown”.
“Tailor Made: Chinatown’s Last Tailors” will be shown on December 1, 2007 at
3pm at the Rainbow Theatre in Whistler. The festival runs from November 29th – December
2nd. Tailor
Made will have its broadcast premiere on CBC: The Lens in 2008. For media inquiries, please
