Realize Entertainment is pleased to announce that their documentary “Not Just
a Bad Day: Living with Bipolar Disorder” is the recipient of a 2007 Silver Chris Award for
excellence in a mental health film. The film challenges the stereotypes of one
of the most commonly misunderstood and misdiagnosed mental illnesses - Bipolar
Disorder.
The film
examines what it is like to live with bipolar by following 3 very different people
who have it. In the film, they swing from intense mania, deep depression, and back again as they
learn to control their own minds and moods, and live normal lives. Helping them along the way
is one psychiatrist, and a mood disorders clinic that is trying to change the way bipolar disorder
is treated.
The Chris Awards are a part of the 55th Columbus International Film & Video Festival. The awards
will be presented at the awards ceremony on November 10, 2007.
“Not Just a Bad Day” is
a one hour documentary produced by Realize Entertainment for Vancouver Coastal
Health. It was made possible by the Community Psychiatric Services clinic of North Vancouver,
and The Sutherland Foundation.
